Originally called "Sunrise Golf Village," the name did not sit well with the retirees whom developers wanted to attract, so a change was made to "Sunrise." Sunrise is the 21st largest of Florida's 400+ municipalities, as well as one of its most progressive. The City of Sunrise, located in western Broward County, is home to more than 90,000 residents and host to several million national and international visitors each year.
